Answers to recurring questions and pitfalls reported from the field. Missing a question? Pass it to your iFacto consultant or key user.

Transport orders

Why can't I add or change a line on a transport order?

A transport order in status Released is locked. DXSteel no longer allows additions, modifications, or deletions on released transport orders or sublines. You'll see a message such as "This transport order is released. It's not allowed to ... lines from the order".

Resolution: open the transport order, choose Reopen, edit the line, then release again.

Reopening is only possible if nothing has been (partly) posted yet. Posted sublines are final.

Certificates

Why can't I delete a certificate line whose request has been sent?

Once a certificate request reaches status Sent, DXSteel blocks deletion or modification of the line or its links: "A certificate line can't be deleted when it has certificate request which are sent". This prevents already-shared certificate information from drifting out of sync with what the customer or vendor received.

Resolution: use Revert status if the original information must still be corrected. You'll first see a confirmation "Are you sure you want to revert the status of certificate request ... from Sent to Linked?".

Can the linked quantity exceed the requested quantity?

No. DXSteel raises "Linked quantity (%1) may not exceed requested quantity (%2)". Either split the link or first adjust the requested quantity on the certificate request.

Warehouse — bin rules

Why am I not allowed to pick from this bin?

DXSteel distinguishes several bin types with strict rules:

Source bin type

Pick allowed?

Put-away allowed?

Load bin

❌ No — "It's not allowed to pick from a load bin"

❌ No — "It's not allowed to put-away to a load or output bin"

Processing bin

❌ No — "It's not allowed to pick from a processing bin"

Limited

Output bin

Limited

❌ No

Cross-dock

✅ Yes

Regular inventory bin

✅ Yes

✅ Yes

Resolution: check with your warehouse lead whether the bin type is correct for the planned action. You can first move stock to a regular inventory bin via an unplanned movement — but not from a load or processing bin ("It's not allowed to do an unplanned move from a load/processing bin").

Why does the scan say "Insufficient inventory at this bin code"?

The system sees not enough free inventory on the scanned bin for the requested movement. Likely causes:

  • A reservation exists on the lot — DXSteel also says "A reservation exists for this lot, mutation is not allowed".

  • The stock is on a different lot or bin than expected.

  • The pieces ↔ weight/length conversion doesn't match what is physically present.

Resolution: open Lot Correction (with the right permissions) or ask your key user to correct it.

Items and lots

Why can't I change Weight Type on an item anymore?

Once Item Ledger Entries exist for an item, DXSteel locks the Weight Type field: "An open Item Ledger Entry was found. Weight Type cannot be edited". This prevents inconsistencies in historical weight calculations.

Resolution: change Weight Type before any inventory transactions exist — or, in exceptional cases, clear the open entries first together with your administrator.

Why does my item report "Quality %1 does not belong to Quality Group %2"?

The quality assigned doesn't match the Quality Group configured on the Item Profile. DXSteel enforces consistency between qualities and the profile.

Resolution: either change the quality or update the Quality Group on the Item Profile.

Selection and pick rules

Why can't I select more pieces from a lot?

You're trying to select more units than exist on the lot. DXSteel raises "It is not possible to select more than %1 pieces from Lot No. %2" and sometimes prompts "The selected quantity (%1) is greater than the available quantity (%2) on Lot No. %3. Do you want to continue?".

Resolution: lower the selection or pick a different lot. To split across lots use Filter Lot Nos. by Attribute.

Purchase and hold flags

Why is my purchase invoice "on hold"?

If an open Certificate Request still exists for the received batch, DXSteel can automatically put the matching vendor ledger entry On Hold via the job Check Vendor Ledger Entries for received certificates. The hold clears as soon as the certificate is received and linked.

General

An action seems unresponsive — what now?

  1. Check whether a notification appears at the top of the screen (DXSteel uses notifications).

  2. Look at the Job Queue Log — some actions run behind the scenes as a job.

  3. Ask your administrator to review your user's Notifications settings.
