Saw/Cut Specification

The Saw spec extends the cut spec with sawing-specific settings: angles (miter), orientation, minimum residual length, and visual figures per profile shape (U, C, T, L).

What differs from Cut Spec

  • Requires a Processing master of type Saw with Use Sawfigures = On.

  • Has a Miter field: Single / Parallel / Opposite.

  • Has a Profile Shape field (U/C/T/L) that filters available saw figures.

  • Has Orientation fields for front, back and side (depending on profile shape).

  • Has Minimum Residual Length enforced strictly (from Processing Setup).

Workflow

  1. Flag sales lines via Saw Cutting Sales Lines.

  2. Open a new saw spec; pick a Processing master of type Saw.

  3. Optionally: link a Processing Instruction Code that carries visual saw figures.

  4. Per line: set Miter, Profile Shape, and orientations.

  5. DXSteel auto-shows the matching saw figure image based on profile shape + orientation.

  6. Generate the production order.

Saw-specific field reference

Field

Purpose

Miter

Single / Parallel / Opposite. Drives saw-angle style.

Profile Shape

U / C / T / L. Filters available saw figures.

Orientation

Portrait / Landscape for the front.

Orientation (back)

Bottom / Top / Sharp / Blunt for back angles.

Orientation (side)

Front / Back โ€” only on L profile.

Minimum Residual Length

Mm limit, from Processing Setup.

Display of Angles

Visualise material (inner) or cut (outer) angles.

Best practices

Set Minimum Residual Length based on your smallest usable rest piece. Below that = automatic scrap.

Per profile shape (U, C, T, L), create a set of Processing Instructions with matching saw figures. Operators see the right image immediately.
