Items, lots and master data
DXSteel structures items via Item Profiles, qualities via Qualities/Quality Groups, and lot attributes via Lot No. Attributes. These three together give you searchable, filterable, and certifiable steel inventory. Profiles: dxsteel Management (key users), and dxsteel Warehouse and Manufacturing for warehouse work.
Create a new item (workflow)
-
Open Item Wizard (create new items and item variants).
-
Pick an existing Item Profile or create one. The profile defines quality, dimension ranges, and weight unit.
-
Complete item details and confirm. DXSteel creates the items and variants automatically.
-
Verify in Materials, Qualities, and Item Profile Property Values that all referenced master data is correctly linked.
Lots and qualities
-
On receipt, lots automatically get a lot number with heat number and certificate reference.
-
Open Lot No. Information Card for lot details: weight, length, quality, certificate link.
-
Configure free attributes (colour, finish, customer-specific number) via Lot No. Attributes and Lot No. Attribute Values.
-
Filter lots on those attributes via Filter Lot Nos. by Attribute.
Price history and margins
-
Price History — all historical purchase and sales prices per lot/item.
-
Sales Price Inquiry and Processing Price Inquiry — look up current price/margin during sales entry.
-
Minimum Margins — minimum acceptable margins per item/customer.
Administrative screens for key users
-
Lot Correction — correct weight, length, or location on a lot.
-
Lot Merge — merge two lots (irreversible).
-
Average Cost Calc. Overview, Avg. Cost Adjmt. Entry Pnt, Unit Cost Per Variant — review and correct unit costs.
-
Sales Price Worksheet — batch update sales prices.
Certain item settings (Weight Type, Quality Group, dimensions in the Item Profile) are locked once Item Ledger Entries exist. Change these during initial setup, not later.
